Wow!!

That actually looks pretty good, but I'm not willing to sell my first born
or make a pact for my immoral soul... :-)

And Leica still needs to live down the M8.

This post is off-topic for this newsgroup, rec.photo.equipment.35mm,
which is concerned with film cameras that use 35mm film, not digital
cameras that look like 35mm SLRs (DSLRs).

Since this post concerns such cameras, the appropriate place for it is
rec.photo.digital.slr. Please post there in the future.

Maybe Leica finally gets it? A totally new system, designed to be digital
right from the start? This looks really nice, but, as we all know, very few
of us outside the Bugatti set will ever get to touch one...

Isn't that what Olympus claimed for Four Thirds? ;-)

As you say, it is not aimed at us, but it competes head-on with the
Hasselblad H3 series and I expect the prices will be comparable.

The Kodak sensor in the Leica S2 is slightly smaller than 645 film.

Area-wise, it's actually quite a lot smaller. I wonder if those lenses have any
sensor growth designed into them?

Yes, I realised that just after I clicked on "Send". Sorry.

The size of the Leica S2's Kodak sensor is 30 x 45mm.

I think the Hasselblad H3 sensors are nominally 36 x 48mm (actual 36.7
x 49mm). That is slightly smaller than the 645 film format, which is
nominally 42 x 56mm. The Leica S System is smaller again.

The largest digital MF's I've seen are the newly-announced Leaf things with
36x56mm (if I remember correctly) sized sensors. That's getting close-ish to
6x4.5 and the price is beyond belief

Take no notice of Aunty Nebenzahl, she is getting old, becoming a bit
senile, has no attention span to speak of and repeats herself a lot. You
are most welcome to post here, this newsgroup is about 35mm equipment, not
35mm film and much 35mm equipment is used with digital cameras.

By the way, back on the subject of Miss Nebenzahl for a moment, as well as
repeating the nonsense that is her mantra, she has other problems common to
old ladies. Don't ever sit where she has been sitting - her bladder control
isn't the best, she pees herself every time she hears the word 'digital'.
She regards it as a dirty word.
