with me being on different medications , I'm starting to have problems with
me holding the camera good enough to get good clear photos. Yes, I have the shakes now but sure don't want to give up shooting photos . I'm thinking about looking into IS lenses , for a Canon XTi 400d . To start with I'd be interested in a area of possibly 28 - 200mm range and see how that works out . Money is a factor so I'm looking at something rather economical . Any info as to what is a good lens , bad lense to stay away from - - any info at all ! thanks Ron B |

Sigma has announced an image stabilized version of their 18-200 lens. The
non-stabilized version goes for around $400 but there is no info on pricing for the new lens. I am guessing the price will be within 25% of the non-stabilized version. This will likely be the best bang for the IS buck. |

In my experience, the larger the zoom range, the more compromises that must be made by the manufacturer, whether sharpness, f/stop, closest focusing distance, flair, etc. 28-200 is pushing more limits. No 18-200 mm lens is likely to be really great, with or with or without IS. Phil |

It's served me well. -- Bill Funk replace "g" with "a" |

Why not an IS camera then all lenses benefit.
