870 MP image of the Andromeda galaxy

Scientific American reports: "A new camera on the Japanese Subaru
Telescope atop Mauna Kea in Hawaii has captured one of the most detailed
images of our galactic neighbour. This device, the Hyper Suprime-Camera
(HSC), is a beast. Its 870 Mega-pixel detector is housed at the end of
a lens barrel that’s 1.65 metres in length."

Take the two hypens off the end of the URL (as I have already done
just above) and it all works.

An incredible shot that not even a Retina display could do justice to.

David

Thanks for that, Eric. The hyphens should have been part of the
signature block and, IIRC, were still displayed as such in Thunderbird.
Sigh!

How many stacked retina displays would one need? G

Cheers,
David
