Default For RichA, K10D manual (Was One Week!)

Its been a bit more than a week, did the camera show up and if so, where did
you order it. Most web camera sellers are quoting a Dec time frame delivery
and Amazon is actually saying 15 Jan 2007. Enquiring minds. . .

Not that I've looked at a lot of them, but that manual is the best one
I've seen for us newbies.

Apparently, now Samsung is going to release it's own version of this
camera too.

NOW? They always were going to. Was announced at the same time. The Samsung
version is simply rebadged.

Sigh. It's Rich - never forget that.

The Samsung
version is simply rebadged.

It's probably funcionally identical but it has more than a
few cosmetic changes, with a different case entirely from
the K10D along with slightly different ergonomics. I don't
know if the internals are identical (I suspect they are) and
I don't know a better word to use than "rebadged", but the
differences are much greater than that word implies.

I can see someone buying Leica Panasonic clone, even at a higher price,
just for the name.
But what is going to make someone buy a Samsung?

I have some Samsung kit here, LCD TV, LCD monitor, other stuff. Seems
good value for money to me. A few years ago, I would not have thought of
Panasonic as a "name" in cameras - yet now they have a wide range of
models with excellent quality and technical innovation (even if not
everyone likes the pixels at 1:1 zoom!).

If the Samsung brand has good lens continuity, lots of people will go for
it.

Hi John,

The photos I saw they looked the same except for the SAMSUNG above the lens.
Just had another look and they look cheaper IMO, especially the buttons on
the back, thats a bit sad really.
