Where to repair a Nikon 35 Ti?

https://phototech.com Per Nikon's website, this is an authorized service station. Also in driving distance for Mort is Nikon's East Coast headquarters, at 1300 Walt Whitman Road in Melville, New York, on Long Island. Google Maps suggests that it's just over an hour trip*. Nikon's website goes on to say: Nikon has factory service facilities at its headquarters in Melville, NY and in Los Angeles, CA. Please use our online repair form to generate a packing slip, shipping label and printable instructions for receiving service. I just had binoculars repaired at Nikon's Los Angeles facility. They did good work, but they weren't overly communicative, and it took a while. * ... depending, of course, on the time of day you go. I wouldn't make the trip anywhere near rush hour. -- Joe Makowiec http://makowiec.org/ Email: http://makowiec.org/contact/?Joe Usenet Improvement Project: http://twovoyagers.com/improve-usenet.org/ |

Where to repair a Nikon 35 Ti?
Not just no, heck no! One would have to be a masochist to make the
drive to Melville and back twice. The bridges tolls alone are $23, plus 240 miles worth of NY costly gas Then one's sanity. Let UPS or any other shipping service you trust do the work. I have an emotional attachment to it beyond its monetary worth, as it took photos of my late wife. I put in a fresh battery and color negative film. Everything seemed to be working nicely. However, when the prints and negatives came back from a photo lab, they are all way out of focus. Can anyone recommend a source to me that could repair it? I am of course hoping that it needs adjusting, and not unavailable parts. Thanks in advance. Mort Linder Mount Kisco, NY Hi Mort, I did not know you lived in Mount Kisco. I had a good college friend who came from that town, and I had the opportunity to visit with him and his family back in 1973. Unfortunately I lost touch with him in the intervening years. In those days I live in various places in UpState NY, Syracuse, Utica, and Inlet (in the Adirondacks), but I have been out here in California some 40+ years. As far as your camera repair is concerned, you are fortunate to be relatively close to NYC, so a quick Google search for “NYC camera repairs” yields several promising results. It is tough to assess those repair shops, so my first move would be to ask the advice of the folks at B&H. That said here are a few NYC shops which seem promising: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/photography/features/last-of-the-new-york-camera-repair-shops https://www.cameradoctornyc.com https://phototech.com -- Regards, Savageduck Hi Duck, Thanks for your leads, which I will pursue. What is the name of your friend who was in Mount Kisco? Knowing the name, I could ask around , including the Post Office. I have been in this area since 1958. I am now 90 years old, and many of my friends have either moved away or passed away. My friend was Dave Paxton, I haven’t seen him in well over 40 years. Today he would be 68-69, he was a bit younger than me, I am 70. -- Regards, Savageduck |

Do you have any further clues for me? Best, Mort Linder Sorry to put you to this trouble, but I seem to have had a brain fart, and gave you the name of the wrong friend. Similar, but not the Mt. Kisco guy, after all it has been some 40+ years since I last saw him. My friend from Mt. Kisco was actually Dave Preston. He lived quite close to, but just outside the village proper, definitely not Yorktown Heights. I had sent an email explaining my error to your linder1929@gmail address. -- Regards, Savageduck |
