need info on : how to install glazier points (framing)
I have am framing pictures and have bought some "Moore Glazier Points".
They are in a "T" shape that actually looks like 3 little prongs. I have the wood frame (glass removed) and want to know how to put in the glazier points. I dont' have any tools other than a hammer and screwdriver. Does anyone know how to install the glazier points and what I will need?? |

Does anyone know how to install the glazier points and what I will need?? If they're what I'm picturing, they should be very easy. They can be pressed into the wood of the frame with either a flat screwdriver or a putty knife, behind the backing of the print (i.e., between the backing and the wall when the print is hung). Best to press down on the backing firmly with your hand as you drive the point home - this ensures a snug fit that makes things less likely to shift. Removing them may require small-point pliers, or you may simply be able to lever them out with a knife blade against the same flange you pushed them in with. - Al. -- To reply, insert dash in address to match domain below Online photo gallery at www.wading-in.net |

This is a little flat gadget that pushs against the point at one end, and has a "tail" at the other end that you tap with a (small) hammer. I would have thought that any store that had the glazier points would have had the tool. You could check a hardware store that does glass work. Mr Denelsbeck's advice is good; I would add the word "blunt" in front of "flat screwdriver or putty knife". |
