Will the real ASAAR please stand up?
ASAAR, how can we identify your real posts?
You, one of the most trusted people in this newsgroup, or possibly a forger, compared Photoshop negatively to its competition, and suddenly there is a flurry of bogus postings. |

I recently thought I detected a way, but I was mistaken. Even if correct, posting that detail probably would have allowed the forger to adjust the headers by the last remaining amount. All I can suggest is that you go by message content. Most of the forgeries are obviously bogus. Some of mine are extremely unlikely for anyone that familiar with my messages to be mistaken for forged replies. Some fit in a gray area where mine are more difficult to tell from the forged replies. FWIW, I haven't commented about Photoshop or Photoline 32 specifics as I've never had a copy of either and never used anyone else's installation. I do have PE version 4 though, bought 12 months ago, but haven't really done more than play with it for a few minutes. Maybe when I get my next great printer I'll start to invest some time with it. My personal opinion of Photoshop is necessarily limited, but I'd buy a copy in a second if it wasn't so highly priced. But I don't think that not having it would be a great loss, as I doubt that I'd have much of a need for more than what the underutilized PE4 offers. |

Will the real ASAAR please stand up?
Hey Bill,
I can usually tell which is which - there's a certain deep ironic humor to the posts that reminds me of the Dark Lord Voldemort, Michael Christie aka artistmike. He shadowed Hecate for a few weeks or months. She over-reacted, initially, much as ASAAR did, and his rather skillful "playing" had a negative impact on her participation. Due to health reasons, this turned out to be her last few months on the net. It's basically a humerous prank, but it can have an impact. ASAAR should know that he does not have to face this alone. The best thing to do for now is ignore the bogus replies and rely on the fact that the rest of us will know who is who. I guarantee that if we keep responses to the fake messages at a minimum, the imposter will get bored and go away, or start shadowing someone else. Another alternative would be to electronically sign the messages, at least until the imposter stops. -- Mike Russell - www.curvemeister.com |

I have an old copy of PGP Security Suite which is no longer supported, some of its components are not XP compatible, and I don't think that reinstalling Win95 sounds too interesting. |

Bill, I don't think it's that hard to distinguish between the real and fake posts by content and style: ASAAR's is hard to emulate. If we just ignore the impostor, he'll get bored eventually |

The most recent (meaning five years old) free version of PGP works with XP, and is integrated with several email and news programs. Article on various PGP packages http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-...ion-of-pgp.htm Downloads for various PGP 6.58 versions. Download the newest beta update and read its text version for instructions on loading the full version. ftp://ftp.zedz.net/pub/crypto/pgp/pgp60/pgp658_ckt/ I'll download it and play with it a bit tonight. -- Mike Russell - www.curvemeister.com |

There wasn't enough ironic humor in that post for me to distinguish. I'm thinking that posts with header showing newsfeed.gamma.RU are fake, so the recommendation of Photoline 32 was real. (?) |
