is this is good buy ? buying for a friend, though I have heard that
olympus documentation is poor, though this camera seems highly
recommended for pros ( which I am not ! )

cheers, jim

£999 is not a particularly good price. I've not checked recently but you
should also look at

www.ukdigital.co.uk
www.ebuyer.com
www.camera-x-change.co.uk

all of whom are reliable dealers I have found.

The E20 is a professional level camera but has a fixed lens (not
interchangeable). A pro might require more choice of lenses (but the
disadvantage to lens changing is that you often get dust on the sensor).

The documentation is fine and is available on the net but I can't
remember where.

Just my opinion. I have an E-10 (and 3 other digital cameras) and it's
great.

My friend has one, and it produces excellent results. Its aimed squarely at
the pro-sumer market, and as such does not have settings such as 'porttrait'
and 'landscape' etc. you must manually set it up using f stops and shutter
speeds. As such you should be wary if the prospective user is wanting
something to 'point and click'
