You know what's sad? Being able to buy an ergonomic, sculpted to fit
the hand flash bracket from Vivitar in the 1960's and now, Strobo-
whatever produces brackets, bent pieces of flat aluminum with a few
pieces of cheap black foam for your hand. I can't believe how far we
haven't come in 40 years.

I don't know, but the Stroboframe bracket I have has a nice wood handle and
a very efficient hinged flip for the camera body. Well-designed, I thought.
I normally don't do weddings, but I did one with that bracket and it served
me well. The Vivitars were before my time; no experience with them.

You do know that a 1/2 oz Stofen or even a milk bottle diffuser will
probably work just as well.

You do know what "goofing around" means?

And no. a "Stofen" ( I have a couple) will not give such a large light
area. My Lumiquest 80-20 will give a very good result, however...

Actually I prefer to goof around with my Cactus V2's, lots of light very
cheaply and I have had some amazing 3D like results.

'been shooting portable wireless with 3 flashes since the early 90's.
No need for cacti. (I do have Cactuses as well - but mainly for the
studio).

Late to the thread, but how about a monopod to mount the light rig &
umbrella to?
I like shoot-thru umbrellas, but that rig looks painful.

I have a gizmo similar to that I used to use occasionally at weddings.
The umbrella is much smaller and square...super silver...and points in
the way you'd normally use an umbrella.

I did it as a lark. It is not at all practical, though I too thought of
the monopod. There are even threaded holes on the bottom to take a QR
plate.

Anyway, stobo-brella has been de-integrated.

After I posted those images, I also rigged it with a silver 'brella:

But with the a900, 28-70 f/2.9, stroboframe Pro RLc, umbrella and flash,
just way too heavy and unwieldy.
