ROADKILL RULES !!!
Here's a gallery I've put together from some of my "Roadkill" shots.
As you may know, a "Roadkill" shot is defined as any photograph taken from a car window. http://www.pbase.com/bret/roadkill I think this might make a good mandate for a future Shoot-In, so consider this as my official [SI] mandate submission. Motorcycle and bicycle roadkill shots will also be acceptable, of course. Oh yeah, no archived images for this one! In the meantime, does anybody else have any good roadkill shots they'd like to share? |

Here are a few of mine http://www.pbase.com/konascott/image/57606735 http://www.pbase.com/konascott/image/57606183 I don't know what that was suppose to be A VW bug with a motorcycle front end http://www.pbase.com/konascott/image/57606232 Scott I've been a roadkiller for years, although up until today I called it "OTR" -- On The Road. My rule is the car must not be stopped. leaving LA http://static.flickr.com/31/48478353_ea6905d5c3_o.jpg buick http://static.flickr.com/29/48307634_ffbc95d8aa_o.jpg rainbow http://static.flickr.com/17/21591653_0cfc9150b0_o.jpg Looking southeast from I-15 north of I-10. I think it is anchored at California Speedway. Or maybe a car dealer in Fontana ... rambler http://static.flickr.com/42/94836274_52dfb05fe9_o.jpg We are following the Rambler in a turn from westbound Mesa College Drive (which may not yet have been renamed from "Artillery Road") to northbound Ashford Street. At our left before the turn is Kearny High School. To its west the next installation is the National Guard Armory. That particular armory was the source of a young man's joyride vehicle: a military tank. You have undoubtedly seen the airborne video of his rampage and its denoument a couple miles southeast, in the median of Highway 163, right opposite the location of the Serra Mesa School For Wayward Boys, Birdland. From the armory the tank-driver's path was east to this intersection, where he made a left and drove along the left curbline, crushing every car he came upon. Continued north for four blocks, making another left turn (west) at Ross Elementary School on Bagdad Street, crushing cars and disintegrating one RV. Left again, south on Armstrong, missing most parked cars. Left on Beagle (east), making a wide turn and snapping off a fire hydrant which bathed the corner house in water. That corner is half a block south and a block east of where I am sitting now, where I was sitting then, doing my telecommute business on a peaceful Tuesday morning. I heard the monster exhaust sound and the helicopters, and watched the remainder live on TV. If you've seen the video, and I'll bet you have, you know the guy continued east on Beagle, made the change to Linda Vista Road north; Convoy northwest through one of the most travelled and populated business areas in town, knocking over lamp posts and mailboxes; Left (west) on Balboa; onramp to 805 south, merged to 163 south, tried to flip a yooie over the concrete median divider, got hung up, got shot dead. Nice rambler. http://home.san.rr.com/fsheff/incars.htm -- Frank ess as if by Magick, it is done |

Are you allowed to stage the shots? I have a few neighbours dogs I could make roadkill submissions from. "Annika1980" wrote in message oups.com... Are you allowed to stage the shots? I have a few neighbours dogs I could
make roadkill submissions from. Just remember, you have to shoot them from the car. BTW, Kewfi, I have a bone to pick with you! I was highly offended at your "Obsolete" shot featuring the Minidisc. I still use my portable Sony MD recorder to make binaural recordings from time to time. |

The format isn't obsolete , not quite. In fact I heard recently Sony were about to release a 3rd generation of Hi-MD portable recorders. Realistically though, I believe the format doesn't have long to run and not just Minidisc, alot of other removable storage formats are going to disappear also, there is a major trend toward integrated storage. Can I poison them and then just throw them on the road? I know technically that they wouldn't be roadkill that way, but it's kinda like photoshop in a macabre way. Well, keep in mind that while poisoning can be done discreetly, your chances of being apprehended are greatly increased when you lug them to the road, especially if you need to make two trips! And then what are you going to say, they were dead when I found them? Uh huh, that'll go over real well. -- Regards, Matt Clara www.mattclara.com |

Scott But there again I'd worry about the increased number of dogs you'd have to poison (surely you'd need at least a couple extra to get your range). -- Regards, Matt Clara www.mattclara.com |
