I might be visiting mount rainier national park in November. How is the weather generally there at that moment ? Is the park still accessible ? Thank you. Koen |

It will surely be wet. Not sure how far into the park you'll be able
to go. I was there at the first of Sept. and there sure wasn't very much snow (some pics are at http://users.techline.com/randya). |

There will probably be snow. It's possible that you could be there the whole time and never see The Mountain. It'll be relatively quiet, as most of the crowds have come and gone. The southwestern entrance, going to the Longmire Lodge is open all year, as is Longmire itself. Nice place, by the way, especially in the winter. The park service plows the road from Longmire to Paradise, so it'll be open, too -- it should be too early to worry about avalanches. Paradise Lodge will probably be closed, as will the Stevens Canyon road (in particular, the drive to Sunrise). Oh, and did I mention wet? Thanks to you all for your advice. I should definitely pack a raincoat. I
now know why it is called 'rain'ier park. I might be able to visit Olympic park too. Koen "Koen" wrote in message ... Hello, I might be visiting mount rainier national park in November. How is the weather generally there at that moment ? Is the park still accessible ? Thank you. Koen |

I might be able to visit Olympic park too.
I'm about a 45 minute drive from Lake Quinault. It rains a lot there in the fall and winter but the scenery is gorgeous all year round. |

On Mon, 6 Oct 2003 10:51:35 +0200 Thorin sat down and started singing
about gold. Gandalf entered. Gandalf said "Hurry up". After being threatened with a cloven skull from one well placed blow, Koen said: Hello, I might be visiting mount rainier national park in November. Koen We went up in November 2000 and were able to get up to Paradise though a lot of the road up had some snow on it - we were probably quite lucky as the sky was free of heavy cloud so we got rather nice views. Went up in July this year too and spent the night in Paradise Lodge - definitely recommend doing this to anyone (though i suspect like Nov 2000 it will be closed). My only regret was that the moon was pretty full and obscured a lot of the night sky with its glow. Hoping that next time we visit the in-laws in Tacoma we'll get to spend another night there :-) -- Mal Franks ] [ www.speccies.org : a comp.sys.sinclair site ] www.guildsofcamelot.org.uk : set-up your DAoC guild's private forum |

Hello,
I might be visiting mount rainier national park in November. How is the weather generally there at that moment ? Is the park still accessible ? Thank you. Koen You can get information on weather and services at: NPS Information: http://www.nps.gov/mora/pphtml/newse...etail8074.html http://www.nps.gov/mora/pphtml/facilities.html http://www.nps.gov/mora/current/current.htm#faciopen Current Conditions: http://www.nps.gov/ccso/oric.htm - USFS-NPS Information Center http://wa.waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/current?type=mrainier - sites in/near NP http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/snotel/...m=679&state=wa - at Paradise Latest reports show cold weather and only light snow at 5,000+ foot elevation, but that can change within hours and easily within days from storms. Always check the day your going. The ORIC (above) gets frequent weather and trail reports for all the USFS and NPS lands and parks in Washington. It's also located on the second floor (near the maps) in the flagship REI store just north of downtown Seattle. Good luck. |
