EOS 3 Focusing Screen

Howdy...

I'm thinking about getting an EOS 3; one of the attractions is
interchangable screens. I'd like to use something like the Ec-B
screen for better manual focusing.

Anyway, I've heard that using this screen (and possibly others)
affects metering. Can anyone confirm this? How badly is metering
affected, etc.

Does this problem also exist with 1-series cameras?

According to the EOS-3 manual you have to set Custom Function 0 correctly to
get the different screens to meter correctly ... there are "Laser-matte
Screens" (set CF to 1) and "New Laser-matte screens" (set the CF to 0).

The manual also says Ec-A, Ec-B, Ec-I and Ec-L screens have a center prism and
therefore cannot meter correctly with evaluative or spot metering so you have
to use center weighted averaging or off-center spot metering instead. Which
was reason enough for me not to change screens on my EOS-3s.

If you are interested, I have an excellent-condition EOS 3 I'm prepared to
sell.
It has the additional power drvive booster (PB-E2) and data-back with it,
along with all boxes and documentation, and original packaging, etc.

It really is in fine shape.
