Default Ensuring your photos look as you see them on other's screens

There has been countless debates about how best to process your photos so
that when other people see them on their screen, they look like you intended
them to.

I've finally figured it out! SO simple yet so complicated at the same time.

Just so there is something ontopic and useful on this post, you can
check your screen setup using a simple test image like this one:
http://www.marktphoto.com/gamma1.gif

The black areas, eg the surrounds and "a" should be jet, absolute,
black. "c" should be just discernible as lighter than black. If you
can clearly see "b" then your black point may be a little off - it
should be *just* lost. It is in the blacks that most problems seem to
occur, so pay special attention down here.

Naturally, "d" should be white, and "e" and "f" should be clearly
*not* white..

LCD monitors (like the one hiding behind the picture in the OP's link)
can be very difficult to set up, and poor screen setup on *any*
monitor can result in you not seeing problems that will bite later.

Problems like the posterisation in this image:
http://www.ryadia.com/POD/June/2-06-07.htm
... which was possibly adjusted on just such a screen...

One day you'll see a bright light above your head. Don't ignore it,
it'll be an original idea. Study it, you need to have few of these
from time to time to avoid making an idiot out of yourself.
I imagine creating an original post comes into the category of having
an original idea. Neither of which you seem to be very conversant with.

For anyone unaware, "Bully.." is Douglas MacDonald.
