Pretty neat but I was way to far away, so I paddled a bit closer and
got this.

Better but still just a bit too far away, so a bit more paddling and I
got this one.

This is about as close as I want to get to a whale when it is breaching
and I am on a boat that weighs all of 25 Lbs.

Too cool!! To bad you didn't have a faster camera...

Tell me about it, I take a small waterproof point and shoot out with
me, but my 350D would have done
so much better at this shot. I was getting a bit dark which is not the
best for the small camera.

I notice the ISO level was a fairly slow 50 ... could you have speeded
that up or was it an "auto only" camera that saw bright light and set a
low ISO?

Baby needs the 600 f/4 IS.
With a gyro, of course.
