Entry level body with spot metering?
Pentax mz-5N and Nikon F601 have caught my eye. Any recommeddations? Opinions?

I have one and quite like it's performance. It also has depth-of-field preview, and selectable metering (matrix or narrow). Same for auto-focusing. The TTL flash works nicely too, as you can vary the amount of fill-flash (undocumented - see my web site for an article on it). Good luck.
