Film for copying continuous tone photographs ? B&W I take it (?). A quick alternative that works suprisingly well is color prints: plain-ole-ASA-100 color negative film and drugstore prints. If, however, you want B&W negatives then it will have to be a very low contrast and very fine grain film. If you have a darkroom or access thereto I would suggest Tech Pan rated at ASA 7 and developed for 60% of the recommended time (7 minutes if memory serves) in Technidol. I found this to work very well. Lacking that, TMAX-100 developed in Microdol-X would be my next choice. Again overexpose by 2 stops and develop for 60% to reduce contrast. And then, what the heck, scan them ... -- Nicholas O. Lindan, Cleveland, Ohio Consulting Engineer: Electronics; Informatics; Photonics.
