half black pictures

It appears that the smaller mirror (autofocus part?) is hanging down blocking the censor. I wonder how expensive the repair would be and if it's worth repairing. Your comments are appreciated. I just had the same thing happen on the same model of camera. D**n. It only had 60,000 or 70,000 images on it. Seems like they could make some that would last longer than that. That's not too bad. What would the price of film be for 60,000 exposures? As a rule of thumb, somewhere around 50,000 seems to be typical for consumer dslrs. 100,000 or more for higher end models (IIRC Nikon specify the D700 at 100k actuations, D300 at 150k, D3 at 200k) That said, under some conditions, much more is possible. IIRC there was an article posted where Nikon D80s were being used in an enclosed box, shooting images automatically triggered - of people on a fun ride. IIRC one had lasted 800,000 clicks and was still working. |
