Default Advice on Wisner vs Zone VI...

Hi, I'm looking to buy a used Zone VI late model "Picker" camera
(22 inch bellows) or a Wisner traditional ... both cameras seem
very similar... Any advice on which camera to pursue?

Thanks for any help...

Mark

Default Advice on Wisner vs Zone VI...

The early Zone VI cameras were made by Wisner but the later ones were not. How
late is the Zone VI and what conditions are the cameras in?

Hi Steve,

I have an early, early Zone VI rosewood 4x5 with a Wista nameplate on it. I
presume this was pre-Wisner? I'm the original owner, but don't remember the
date of purchase off-hand. Sometime in the 1980s. (Might have the receipt,
though, if I dig deep enough...)

You are right. There was a pre-Wisner phase to Zone VI also

The Zone VI camera would be one of the last camera's they made
before they went over to Calumet (serial # 1500). It had 22
inches of bellows and was most like the Wisner traditional.
If both cameras were in equally good shape, I guess I'm
looking for general comments in how each camera compares
to the other in overall build quality, usability and
reliability...

Thanks

Mark, if I may diverge: do you really need such a long bellows draw? There
are some fine tele lenses for LF which use shorter bellows extension. What
lenses would you use in the field that require such long extensions?

TIA!
