It is sickening. I can buy a used first-gen Pentax or Olympus DSLR
for about $250 on Ebay with the kit lens. No, it won't have a long
zoom on it, that'll cost another $150 but it is something you can get
later. Meantime, you get FAR superior image quality to the dreck P&Ss
being churned out with those ROTTEN 1/2.5" sensors. Here's another
one:

You are free to buy whatever you want. Other people are free to buy
whatever they want. It can only be "sickening" if you are arrogant
enough to presume that others should want what you want.

Personally, I find the current P&Ss on the market as sickening as the
price of a D300 must look like to a P&S user.

Most of us regulars are sickened by your regular posts displaying your
lack of photographic knowledge.

It's truly sad that some dSLR bigots are so insecure and threatened by
compact cameras that they feel such a desperate need to bash them at
every opportunity.

You ought to try a good specialist camera shop. Supermarkets don't
stock the well engineered high quality models.

Shouldn't you be playing your guitar on a streetcorner for quarters?

No, what is sad is the GARBAGE infesting the low-end of cameras,
compared to 3 years ago. See the first week Dec. Issue of the Brit
mag, Amateur Photography for a back page commentary on where the
industry is going because of this.

I'm not threatened by P&Ss. They're fine for the majority of amateurs.
