Canon S80 owners -- Question re image quality
Hello all, I'm new to digital photography (I have what some call a
digital Brownie, a Kodak C310), but I have enjoyed using and still use a variety of film cameras with results that I like. Right now I am using (for film) either a Pentax Spotmatic or a Pentax MX with the Pentax lenses. I'm interested in the S80 because it is small, allows manual control, takes movies, has an optical finder, and has a relatively wide zoom at 28mm, wider than most I've seen. Here's my question -- in terms of not just resolution, but in terms of distortion, bokeh, and the overall look of the image, will the S80 give results as good or better as those wonderful old Pentax lenses? I'm not talking about 16 x 20 images, just your usual old 4 x 6 print. I am particularly interested in the quality at the wider and normal end. BTW, the digital Brownie is, in my opinion, a superior snapshot camera to my Olympus Stylus Epic. I can see why sales of film P & S cameras have plummeted. Thanks much, Aaron B. |
