Default Vivitar 285hv flash hotshoe wiring

I have a Vivitar 285hv flash that is missing the hotshoe. I bought a
new replacement hotshoe, but I'm not sure how it needs to be wired up
to the flash.
The flash has 4 wires (Black, White, Red, and Green)coming out of the
bottom where the hotshoe attaches.

Can anyone help me understand where the 4 wires should attach to the
hotshoe? I have a multimeter and have identified the internal hotshoe
contacts that go to the center pin and the side contacts. I figure the
other two wires must have something to do with the Test button and PC
connector that are built into the hotshoe. But, I have no idea which
wire goes to what contact.

I have seen many posts on the news groups about replacing the 285
hotshoes and many replacement hotshoes for sale on ebay. But, I was
surprised, after much searching, that I was unable to find a wiring
diagram of some type of repair instructions for the 285. I guess it is
one of those well kept secerets.

If anyone can enlighten my, it would be well appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

I would like to thank the two people who replied by email. I greatly
appreciate your help. I have not wired up my flash yet, but I'm fairly
sure the following is correct for the shoe I'm working with:

With flash shoe oriented so that Lock Lever is facing you:
White = terminal directly behind the word "lock"
Red = terminal in middle of right side
Green = center terminal
Black = middle back terminal

Cheers,
- Jeff

I too am now running into this problem. New metal shoe has two contacts,
flash has 4 wires(red, black, green, white). What was your solution or
does anyone have instructions? Thanks.
