Default Canon EOS RP sucks a bit

@googlegroups.com, says...
Brushing off IBIS is like trying to say AF has no major value.

That's a good way of putting it. IBIS is as fundamental
as AF.

*any* form of stabilization is fundamental, not just ibis, which is
nowhere near as effective as ilis in longer focal length lenses, where
it's needed the most.

Well no, it's not a bad camera, it's just that it could
be much better:

Biggest problems (according to the review):
- high ISO performance could be better
- no IBIS

Does anyone happen to know the compromise of using say EF-S lenses with
this camera? I see there's a mount adapter . . .

Sheesh! This is the biggest non-argument of the year. Nobody "brushed

in your dreams.

vs 2-3 with OIS only
is a huge difference.

it's actually much better than that.

nobody's going to toss $20k worth of fine cameras and top-quality
lenses into the trash because of IBIS.

Probably exactly the same was said (about the cameras)
when AF was introduced.

nope. photographers could use their existing manual focus lenses with
an autofocus body, except for canon and minolta, who changed the mount.

what was unusual was that canon intentionally designed their ef mount
so that competing nikon manual focus lenses could be used, instead of
their own.

Regarding the lenses, you can continue using all of them
with IBIS.

not if the camera mount changes, and adapters are a hack.

There are reports of people shooting seconds-long exposures with 50mm lenses
using IBIS-in-lens combinations (Olympus) and getting sharp shots.

not very many, not with any reliability and has more to do with luck
than ibis.

I have the mount adapter with my RP. Works fine with EF lenses; I
didn't buy any RF lenses with my RP, as I'm waiting for the 24-240
later this year. The adapter will do the same with EF-S as far as
connectivity is concerned‹autofocus and IS.

Whether the EF-S lenses can cover the full-frame sensor I do not know.
Regardless of which Canon DSLR one has, I recommend reaching a bit
deeper into the pocket and buying EF lenses for assured performance if
one upgrades to full-frame. Or, if you're buying an R or RP, make a
fresh start and get RF lenses.
