Default Mamiya 6 Film Advance Problem

Is it true that winder/film advance mechanisms for the Mamiya 6 (RF) are
no longer replaceable and that hundreds of users are now stuck with
non-reparable cameras. I am coming out of a medium format "coma" (love
that digital!) and am now just hearing about this issue. I have an M 6
with all lenses but it does have a rewind problem and was contemplating
getting it repaired.

Thanks in advance...Jon H

Mamiya made a decision to stop manufacturing the winder mechanisms about 2
years ago(or so). The m6's are prone to winders failing so it will send a
death blow into the 6 especially for professional use. My 6MF's winder
failed and was replaced about a year ago. Check with Mamiya America
Corp(MAC) to see if they can/will repair your camera. MAC told me a year
ago that they were only repairing 6MFs and the "New 6" provided parts are
still available.
