Default Difference between revisions of Pentax 105mm 67 lenses?

I am looking to acquire a 105mm lens for my Pentax 6x7, I have heard that that
particular lens is of highly variable quality. Some sites that sell used ones
have one price for older ones and a higher price for a "late model" version.
Is there likely to be a big difference, one worth a 40% higher price?
