Default Question about xD cards

Just got an Olympus Stylus 300. Nice camera. Now, I need to buy more
storage. Are the little xD cards proprietary in some way, or can I use
non-Olympus cards if I find them cheaper? Have these things gotten to be
like floppy disks yet - various manufacturers, pretty much equal?

Fuji xD cards work OK in my Oly C750 but you lose the panorama function.

Yes, Fuji xD cards work fine in my Olympus 765. I would guess the other
brands will also. For your information, the last xD card I bought was a
Fuji 256 at Costco back in the summer. It cost about $82. When I was
in Costco a couple of days ago, the price is down to 40 something. Nice
to seethe price come down, although the xD's are still much more than
the other types.

Yes, you can use any brand you like. The only difference is a non Olympus
card will not allow you to use the panorama function. If you're near an
office max you might want to check there first. I picked up an Olympus 512
mb xd card for under $100 this week and it has a $15 rebate to boot! So
after taxes and rebate, assuming it comes, the net cost is under $85. Brad

Thanks for the feedback, people.
