Anyone know about the Sharper Image film scanner?
Saw a TV commercial tonight for the "Sharper Image Converter", a film
scanner being offered for $100.[1] Does anyone have any knowledge of or experience with this device? They say it scans "up to" 3600 dpi at 10 bits per (color?) channel. I wonder what the actual optical resolution is, as well as the image quality. Web site at http://www.sharperimageconverter.com. [1] OK, it's $99.95. I'll *give* them a goddamn extra nickel if they'll only call it what is, 100 bucks. -- Personally, I like Vista, but I probably won't use it. I like it because it generates considerable business for me in consulting and upgrades. As long as there is hardware and software out there that doesn't work, I stay in business. Incidentally, my company motto is "If this stuff worked, you wouldn't need me". - lifted from sci.electronics.repair |

And it is crap. Gruss, Roman -- "An MDCCCXII/Mémorable par la campagne contre les Russes/ Sous le préfectura de Jules Doazan." Rule 1: 3600 is not good enough to scan negatives and slides, and that is probably an interpolated number Rule 2: You get what you pay for and $100 does not buy a decent scanner Rule 3: Why do you think Sharper Image is in bankruptcy? For selling quality photo gear? -- Michael |

It´s a digital camera. And it is crap. You mean it's the innards of a regular digicam, and it's not a scanner? Could you be a little more specific? You seem to know something about this thing. -- Personally, I like Vista, but I probably won't use it. I like it because it generates considerable business for me in consulting and upgrades.
