How long is Pentax going to stay in business? Almost no 3d party
lenses is not a good sign.

The last time I checked it seemed like most Pentax lenses was rebranded
Tokinas. That might have changed. Let's remember Pentax for the
affordable cameras in the sixties and the often stellar Takumars lenses
they made to go with them...

Screw Tamron and underdog Tokina, they hardly represent much in the way of 3rd party lenses. They are the ones who refuse to make lenses for brands other than Canon, Nikon and a smattering of Sony.

It's Sigma that I worry about. They used to include Pentax mounts with
all their offerings, but not any more.

know... ;-ppp

I was not aware of any law or rule, moral or legislated, saying that a
manufacturer and/or distributor of camera lenses cannot make economic
decisions. How is that decision causing a negative impact on society.

nonsense. tamron & tokina make some very good lenses, and unlike sigma,
they don't fall apart.

there aren't enough customers to justify bothering.

lensrentals.com had several reliability reports of which lenses were
the most trouble, citing sigma as being the worst to the point where
they refused to carry sigma lenses when another maker had a similar
lens.

some simga lenses were dead on arrival from sigma, never having been
rented to anyone, and when lensrentals contacted sigma for repairs,
sigma said user damage.

sigma ultimately forced lensrentals to take most of those reports down.

some older sigma lenses were held together with tape:

On another Sigma lens I had, the front part came loose, and the lens
wouldn't focus. I discovered that it was attached not by screws, but
by some sort of double-sided tape!
