What do you think of the slogan "Join the Navy, feel a man!"

Sounds a bit gay to me, maybe that's what they mean by everyone loves a sailor.

Do you know anyone who found the Golden Rivet on a warship?

I'm sure many do (I assume that's an advert for homosexual encounters).

Could be like finding the soap in a prison shower.

I think the more obvious connection is Churchill's comment; "There are the

Close! ;-)

Google knows all!

The first entry from Google is actually this:

"an old nautical term for tempting a new recruit to the bowels of the ship for the purpose of homosexual activities"

It probably happens on narrow boats too ;-)

Haha! :-D Maybe - but not on *MY* narrowboat!

Drive w/o a seatbelt here and it's a fine.

It's only a fine if you're caught.* I get caught once a year, £100 a
year is a small price to pay for:

Hmm, for someone who moans about the price of everything, that seems a
strange thing to write.

It's only the cost of 2 tanks of petrol.* And I buy way more than 2
tanks a year.
1) No annoyance when leaning forwards.

I wear mine and it's no annoyance to lean forward.

Then you must lean very slowly.* Are you one of those annoying buggers
who sits at junctions for ages, not pulling out when there's enough room
for a bus?

I pull out when it's safe and courteous to do so.

Which you can't tell without leaning forwards to look.

Most places don't need to. And when I need to my belt cooperates just fine.

2) Not having to put the ****ing thing off and on every time I get to
and out of my car.

A few seconds effort for added crash safety.

Safety is for pussies, and people who can't drive properly.* I have

Safety is for everyone on the road.* Your attitude is very bad.

Your attitude sounds like a girl.

You've proven you're an a-hole, and now proven to be a childish a-hole.

And of course even if you driver properly (and I'm harboring doubts
about your driving skills), that's no defense against the guy who runs
into you.

If someone runs into me that's not my problem.

It sure will be.

never managed to crash enough to cause myself an injury.

And a few seconds 50 times a day is not on.

Pizza delivery, huh?

Nope.

Whoosh.

Exhaust manifold 2 years ago.* $400.* Installed.

That is VERY expensive.* $400 for an exhaust!??!

No.* Exhaust _manifold_.* The thing that gathers the exhaust from the
engine before the expansion joint leading to the catalytic converter.

Which is smaller and should be cheaper than a whole exhaust, you were
royally ripped off.

What! A complicated casting which has to be machined should be cheaper
than a length of bent tubing? Come now.

It's not that complicated, they're mass produced.* I've had one much
cheaper than that, about £60 I think.

You obviously have no clue about what part I referred to.

I know what a ****ing manifold is, this one fits my car and costs £78
including delivery:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253550837048
Do you like being ripped off?* Remember, 90% of garages are run by
cowboys, never ever buy a part from them, buy your own part and either
fit it yourself or get them to do it for labour only.

Hmm. Let's see.
1. Renault.
2. That part is tiny compared to the one on the Accord 2.4 L
3. 87£ is about $150. The Honda compliant part is more expensive
because it is bigger - and not some knockoff crap for cheapskates with
Renault's.
4. Markup and labour and taxes.

So, as usual you're fabricating BS that in the end is as meaningless as
your life...

I'd rather have it.* Never know.* Didn't cost anything to get
fixed.

Airbags, like seatbelts, cause as much harm as good.* I never
wear a
seatbelt unless there's a cop nearby.* My friend's father died
because
he was trapped by his seatbelt in an accident.* They're also damn
annoying - whenever you lean forwards at a junction to see if any
traffic is coming, the damn thing locks!* Then you've got to
slowly lean
back and forwards again, trying to encourage it to believe you
weren't
thrown forwards in an accident.

Complete and utter nonsense.

Yeah, mostly, but even though you're replying to a troll,

I'm seeing that now.* Seemed reasonable.* I guess he's a long con
troll.

// he's partly
right about the belts locking in some cars. It's the way some are
designed, and you sometimes have to push yourself back in the
seat to
release them. He's certainly right about "annoying".

Never had that issue with my 2 most recent cars.* I seem to recall
something like that on an older car.

Drive w/o a seatbelt here and it's a fine.

It's only a fine if you're caught.* I get caught once a year, £100
a year is a small price to pay for:
1) No annoyance when leaning forwards.
2) Not having to put the ****ing thing off and on every time I get
to and out of my car.

3) No protection in an accident.

Isn't it better to not crash in the first place?* Or are you
incapable of driving properly?

It is much better to not crash in the first place.

I am very capable of driving, properly or otherwise.
I can't speak for other people or fate in general.

Good drivers can avoid bad drivers.

You can strive to avoid, you can't be sure to avoid. But logic doesn't
seem to be on your strength list.

1.* Cars don't catch fire after crashes much (unless maintained by
incompetents who buy parts on the cheap, perhaps).

2.* Always wear your seatbelt and always have this on a lanyard in the
car:

Which you can't tell without leaning forwards to look.

I went over to the account's office this afternoon and I tested your
notions:

1. With the view from my car I don't need to lean forward at all for
most of the drive. This is sub/extra-urban so nothing blocking the view
towards approaching traffic most of the time.

In the city, esp. the older, narrower road areas, probably would need to
lean forward more.

2. As to leaning, no matter how fast I leaned forward, the seatbelt did
not lock at all. It took quite a good jerk with my hand to get it to lock.

Conclusion, your narrow experience with crappy French built cars,
maintained poorly, on a miserly budget, is not at all close to a
reference for most of us.

You're an idiot for not wearing your seat belt, but that's your problem.

printed on my $0 invoice.* I guess someone screwed up.* I don't

I avoid Honda ever since my ABS failed and the two sensors were

them

£110 each by getting an American friend to buy them then post them

kiss
my ass.

Honda's are amongst the best value cars there are.* My Honda
Accord is
16 years old this year.* Looking to buy a new one this March/April.

But when they break they cost too much for the parts.

Not at all.* My power steering actuator failed last year.* I
assumed it
would cost a fortune.* $185.* Installed.

Exhaust manifold 2 years ago.* $400.* Installed.

No.* Exhaust _manifold_.* The thing that gathers the exhaust from the

No.* It's an expensive part because it is made of heavier material that
has a much higher temperature tolerance than things downstream of it.
But of course being that close to the engine ...

It's never cost me that much for a manifold.

Hooray for you and your tiny crappy cars.

Front brake calipers, $650.* Installed.* (at 15 years in...).

Holy ****, mine (on the Renault) were £300, at a very expensive
garage.
If I'd have bought them myself they would have been half that.

$650 CAD

CAD?* What is that?* Computer Aided Design?* Stop using acronyms.

Canadian dollars.* Something you would have found out in a second of
thoughtful searching.

I shouldn't have to search.* It would have taken you less time to type
"$650 Canadian".* Are you a slow typer or something?* And why can't your
country invent a word for your own currency instead of taking the USA one?

Your asshat points continue to build. Anyone in the UK with the
slightest international experience would know what $650 CAD meant.
(Usually written CAD$650.00, I admit).

= £375.* Includes labour, disks, pads.

Get over yourself.

I can buy a calliper for £30 on Ebay.

Not the original parts which is what I spec'd.

Why use original parts?
1) They're going on an old car, they don't need to last so long.

It's a Honda. Plenty left.

2) It was the originals that ****ed up in the first place.

The original ... after 14 years or so... not unhappy.
