Depending on their definition of excellent it is a very good price.

New
in 1984 it was $995.00 list with board.

I'm having a heck of a time finding info on this beast--anyone have a

link?

Ask me what info you need.

Thanks Bob,

I've spoken to a fellow at the camera shop here who indicated this was the
"budget" linhof line. Still, having handled the one in the shop, it
certainly seems to be a preciscion instrument, though it has no geared
movements except on the rail itself. The rail was only about a foot long,
which would limit the use of longer lenses, but it seems to have a full
complement of movements. Can you comment on any of that? What's this
camera's reputation? Were they popular among a certain crowd such as studio
photographers, or landscape photographers, with amateurs or pros? Will it
accept a bag bellows for wide angle/architectural work?

Thanks again, I do appreciate it.

Matt, does the camera have yaw-free movements?

For a pretty good economy 4x5, you might consider the Sinar Alpina. They
typically go for $150. The downside is the rail which does not interchange
with any other Sinar cameras, but that's where the economy comes from.

Didn't you just buy a Shen Hao?

And, there's nothing to stop me from buying another! Except my wife...

Yeah, just received it today. Still, I just saw a Super Color ST go for
$500 on Ebay... Also, the Linhof's movements were butter smooth, and all
clearly demarked. That's not the case with the Shen Hao. Still, it's a
pretty and capable camera and more portable than any rail based camera.

Really? I think the Shen Hao is smooth. I wouldn't want them any
looser...

I'm not looking for a replacement.

And I didn't say the Linhof was loose.
