MAXXUM 7000 Lens Options
My father has a Maxxum 7000, which he bought with a 30-70 zoom lens
with macro mode. He’s bought a few other lenses over the years but this zoom is his primary and it is beginning to fall apart. The camera is still in good shape. Yes it’s older than dirt, rudimentary in auto focus by today’s standard and painfully slow, but it suits his needs and he is happy with it. I’ve done a bit of searching and found Minolta no longer supports this model. What are his options to replace this lens? Will current Minolta products fit and function? Thanks in advance. Daryl |

MAXXUM 7000 Lens Options
Any Minolta AF lens, except the xi series power zoom lenses (happily, there
aren't many out there), will work with the 7000. Mike "daryl1138" wrote in message m... My father has a Maxxum 7000, which he bought with a 30-70 zoom lens with macro mode. Maxxum lenses are compatible up and down the line. A Maxxum lens you buy today should work on that old beast. But avoid xi lenses if you can (they are no longer made, but if you come across a used one, just give it a curious glance, no more...). I don't know the lens you're referring to, there is nothing like that in todays range. So look for a used one, perhaps on ebay. If macro is a neccesity in a similar focal length range ... not sure what is the best course... Minolta no longer have macro-zoom lenses (new). Sigma might have lens that does the job, but in this range the optics will likely not be great. If macro is not a neccesity then the 28-100, 24-105, 28-105, 35-70, 35-80 lenses may be of interest. In that list, I believe the 28-105 is slightly sharper than the 24-105. The others I don't anything about, others may chip in. Cheers, Alan -- --e-meil: there's no such thing as a FreeLunch.-- |
