Perhaps they are looking for a "Cash Cow", that is, a company
which can be purchased inexpensively and milked for profits.
This is often accomplished by buying a company with a good name
and a substantial product base and then cutting off all R&D.
The profit comes from selling additional gear and services to
the existing customer base. Eventually the customer base
migrates to other products at which point the remaining assets
of the acquisition are sold off and the brand name retired.

We need a name for such a tactic; possibly Ebola Economics.
