Metz 45-CT-1 Flash question......

Hello: Here is my problem.....

Photo setup.......
1) Focus camera - distance = 3m (10 Ft)
2) Go to flash unit, set DIN = 23 (ISO 160)

Here's the problem...
3) 3 m does "not" line up with "ANY" of the 5 "Automatic" settings.
4) So, what do you do????
a) Use Manual Mode????
b) OR, can you use "ANY" of the "Automatic" Modes since they are
"ALL" to the "RIGHT" of 3m - INDICATING that they are ALL available to
use for this distance.???

Richard... that's the beauty of the Metz units, and most other automatic
units as well... as long as you are within the effective range of the flash
(not too close, and not too far) you can choose any one of the f-stops so as
to control your depth of field, and also the effect of the available light
on your photo.

Simply select one of the automatic settings; set your lens f-stop to match,
and the flash will automatically give the proper amount of light for the
subject.

Judging from your employer, you may be shooting non-typical situations...
large open areas, for example, so you will have to factor in a bit of
experience and judgement... the flash is smart, but not infallable.
