Default 16x20 Saunders borderless easel

Hi all.

I was recently given a 16x20 Saunders easel for making borderless
prints. It is the kind that has ajustable blades (paper edge holders)
on the 16 in. sides. There is nothing on the top or bottom of the 20
in. sides.

My question is how do I keep the paper edges flat at the top and bottom?
Is there some technique or trick to doing this that I don't know about?

Thanks for any information.

Regards,
Bogdan

I've soured on the usual assortment of easels although the
four blade steel Beselers may be OK. I've not one to try.
Your gripe mine also. The four blade Saunders, speed, single
size and adjustable borderless easels in my collection fall short.
Vacuum easels are out. Sticky Backs may be OK. I think
this evening I'll try a technique that's been in the back of my mind
for some time. Pre-wet then sponge dry the paper. The FLAT damp
paper will then be positioned on the baseboard of my PERFECTLY
aligned enlarger via an easel base. Dan

Place a couple of small pieces of double sided carpet tape on the 20" edge.
Use a test print to decrease/moderate the adhesiveness before using it for
printing so the tape doesn't damage the paper as it's removed.

Hi,

To the question of what kind of paper I'm using, it's fiber based paper,
the rest of my Agfa Classic

Bogdan

Sorry, it was not a question, but a suggestion.

I had a borderless 11x14 easel from Saunders, and it worked OK (note: faint
praise). But when I realized I always trimmed my prints a little, prior to
mounting, so I never needed a borderless easel. So I gave mine away.
