Camera equipment to sell - job lot or split?
I am in the UK and want to sell some camera equipment that i have.
Basically this consists of a Minolta 300 35-70mm zoom lens, minolta 700 with 70-210mm lens, large flash, the reflective silvery type screen, various lenses that i do not know the use of, some automatic presser i think (on a wire). As you can probably tell, i do not know much about photography but should i sell it as a job lot (all that a photographer needs) or separately? Also anyone have any idea on value. Thanks folks |

Why don't you check on e-bay for comparable systems? I recently sold
a Mamiya C-220, 3 lenses, and some accessories as a lot. I checked price on the various items where sold separately, and then set my reserve accordingly. Sold just fine. Frankly, I think you could do it either way, but if you want to get rid of all of it, sell it as a lot. Be realistic about price, if you set a reserve. It you are going to sell through local paper or to a dealer, you will take a hosing. |

Unless the equipment is very specialized (which this is not) you're always going to get more selling individually. The idea is that someone buying Minolta equipment already HAS Minolta stuff, and is unlikely to need your entire outfit. He'll just buy the lot to get a lower price... You're balancing convenience against best value; selling together IS easier. Selling to a dealer is easiest still, but they'll generally offer half the retail value or thereabouts. |
