There's absolutely *nothing* wrong with a printing company saying
'make all yoru images 300dpi'. Why should they measure every image in
your document and calculate precisely how many pixels big it should
be?


Its ok if the printer is talking to a designer. That person knows the size
of the finished product. I get the sense that the OP is not at that level of
the project or the question would not have been asked here.

It's a very small piece of string long and a possibly slightly
different but still quite small piece of string wide.
