North Korea capable of firing nuclear-armed missile at US: US
official

North Korea has the capability of mounting a nuclear warhead on its
missiles that could hit the United States, a senior US defense
official said.

Vice Admiral Lowell Jacoby, the head of the Defense Intelligence
Agency, gave the assessment during a Congressional hearing.

Asked by Senator Hillary Clinton whether North Korea had the ability
to arm a missile with a nuclear device, Jacoby said: "The assessment
is that they have the capability to do that, yes, ma'am."

He said that North Korea also had the ability to deploy a two-stage
intercontinental missile that could successfully hit US territory.

"Assessed to be within their capacity, yes," Jacoby told Clinton
during the hearing on the defense intelligence budget of the US Senate
Armed Services Committee.

North Korea said this month it had shut down its nuclear power plant
at Yongbyon and was preparing to reprocess the plant's spent fuel, a
move that could result in the production of enough plutonium to build
up to six more nuclear bombs.

Reports quoting a US official said last week that the United States
believed North Korea was planning to test a nuclear weapon and has
asked China to intervene.

Thanks Clinton and the Democrats.

You guys are against the Star Wars Program...too?

Good Bye LA...

Yes, parts of Alaska, and Hawaii, but remember what happened to the last
country that bombed Hawaii? And it wasn't even a state then. They
should spend the money trying to feed their people. Just what paranoia
leads them to fear the US? They have NOTHING we want, need, or can even
USE.

1) North Korea did not build a single nuclear weapon while Clinton was
president. Nor did they advance their uranium enrichment program. They
have built at least a half a dozen under Shrub and have started work
again on building uranium bombs as well as plutonium ones.

2) Star Wars does not work and would not work. It is only since 9/11
that it has been re-positioned as anti-terrorist shield. The original
rate hole they poured the money down (Smart Rocks, Brilliant Pebbles,
etc.) was to counter the Soviets or the Chinese. That is, it was going
to stop *most* of hundreds of missiles coming in. We have already
spend scores of billions of dollars on this. If the Koreans tells us
when they are going to launch, tell us the planned trajectory and
target, and give us a few months to get ready we might just be able to
shoot down a single missile. But I would not bet my life on it.

Uh huh.
And does your little near-sighted mind lead you to believe that he ONLY
started working toward nuclear development in the last four years?

No my educated mind knows that they had put that project on hold while
negotiating with the Clinton administration. What about "started work
*again*" (emphasis added) confused you?

Some U.S. politicians make a big deal that North Korea did not "live
up" to its commitments with Clinton, they over look the little detail
that the U.S. never came though with the carrot we had agreed to
either.

Your life is ALREADY bet on it. Star Wars worked. It brought down the
USSR. It continues to work because no one can really be sure it isn't
aimed at him. As for N. Korea and nukes. No one has yet seen one, nor
is there proof that any exist. If you have knowledge of exactly how
many there are, and where, perhaps you need to contact the CIA, and
Homeland Security, with this information. I am sure they would
appreciate it.

Didn't he say that the US could hit North Korea with nuclear missiles too ?
(By the way the only country to use nuclear weapons against civil
population until now
wasn't North Korea, if I remember correctly..)
Why don't worry about the nuclear weapons of China, Russia, India, Pakistan,
France, U.K, or Israel ?

Please , keep away your third rate Off Topic paranoia from this group..

And Ronald Regan's administration sold weapons to Saddam Hussein. Now,
that was a good move, wasn't it?

When you can figure out how to vote without a controversy, go spout your

This NG is about digital cameras.
