Hard time for album software, was reply to: Picasa is free now

All most all photo album software have died in the retail store. Even
Adobe's Photoshop Album has to be combined with Photoshop Elements on
the shelf. Retail stores drop album software like crazy this year. You
know why? Because they do not perform. That's the obvious reason.

Picasa has been released for almost two years and has hard time to
find stores to carry it. All in all, the album software is flooded.
There are lots of similar me-too packages. Luckily, Picasa was aquired
by Google and they can afford to offer it for free.

There is one exception, though. The 3D-Album PicturePro performs very
well in stores like BestBuy and Fry's. I found recently that the
software has entered into the top 5 sellers in the digital photo/video
section in the BestBuy stores. This is a truly different package which
opens a new horizon for you to handle your digital photos the way the
other software does not.

Google purchased Picasa and is now offering it for free. It used to be
$29.95. An image viewer/organizer with slideshow too. I've been using it for
a week now and it's turned out to be a pleasant suprise. A sort of iPhoto
for the PC.

Worth checking out.
