Where to Obtain Free Trial Photo Software?
Greetings!
Recently my wife and I have begun to take 50 -100 pictures each weekend with our Olympus D-550. As amateurs we are trying to learn more about our camera so that we are starting with better photos. In the mean time we are also looking at software to manipulate the images and improve the end result, either for onscreen enlargement and / or for printing. We would like to use and compare different packages. Does anyone have suggestions on the best places to download free photo-editing software? We have the SW that came with the camera, but it is so basic as to not be much value, other than to enlarge and crop. Any / all suggestions are welcome! TIA! -- Dave |

IrfanView is a good freeware starter (www.irfanview.com). Try a site like download.com or tucows.com - IIRC both give you the option to search including "license" (freeware, shareware, demo, etc.) |

TIA! -- Dave I'll make the shameless plug for ACDSee, made by ACD Systems. Version 7 is coming out soon, so you might want to wait for that. If you're interested in seeing what it's capable of, you can download the version 6 trial from http://www.acdsystems.com. The ACDSee 7 trial will be available in a few short weeks. TIA! -- Dave Dave, You can download Photoshop Elements 2.0 and/or Photoshop CS from Adobe's website. You won't find anything better, although some packages compare well on some features. Elements costs between $50 and $100 (list), and CS is WAY up there. |

Easy to learn and can do anything that Photoshop can do at a much lower cost. As you might guess .... I'm lovin it. |

go to www.adobe.com
download either elements 2 or photoshop cs in trial and then dismiss as inaccurate the comments regarding PSP Rich www.digitalmood.co.uk Adobe software rules. TIA! -- Dave Dave, Look at Photo-Brush from http://www.mediachance.com/. Great shareware at a good price, about $40. Also, try PhotoFiltre from http://www.mediachance.com/. Freeware now, but reportedly will soon become shareware. We have PhotoShop Elements 2.0 installed as well as these two, and I find my self using Elements less and less. Steve . . . |

Not quite free but you can't do better than an old version of Corel Draw.
Fully licensed versions are common at computer shows for about 10 UK pounds for version 10. The package includes PhotoPaint which has about 98% of the functionality of PS CS for 1.5% of the cost. Oh and the rh mouse control works correctly unlike the mouse control on Adobe products. This improves workflow, navigation etc. Graham "Dave" wrote in message ... Greetings!
