SD card: 150X or HC class 6, or HC class 6 150X?
An explanation of the real world differences using a K10D, in fairly
frequent burst mode but not heavy duty bursting (usually under 10 continuously) would be very helpful. All the references I can find are all pretty cryptic as far as this goes. Sometimes figures are maximum or minimum, or constant or potential... Also in these searches I see posts claiming that some 4 GB 150X non HC cards are kludged to attain this rating, and have higher corruption rates. To stick with 2 GB if 150X and non HC. Hooey? Hard to tell about the HC card reviews because it's clear some people bought them for incompatible hardware. Thanks for any experiences good or bad with high speed, at least 4 GB SD cards, especially in the K10D. |

SD card: 150X or HC class 6, or HC class 6 150X?
The class stats are for sustained speed, which don't say much about
how well it serves in a camera when it's not relying on sustained speeds, which it usuall isn't. Tests show that cards in the same class aren't necessarily consistant in general responsiveness in cameras, but it is a guarentee of at least something. I've seen lots of posts from people with problems with 4 GB non HC SD cards ofcertain brands in cameras, because they use a kludge in addressing to get the larger capacity. This thread has some explanations: http://tinyurl.com/2vlnuh Unfortunately, Transcend, which had always been my go to for cheap and reliable 1 GB SDs, seems to have not hit the mark with compatability with their non-HC 4 GB fast SD cards, according to user reviews on price sites, though I'm sure they're not alone. |
