Cleaning a CMOS

How about answering his question instead posting another plug for
Sigma. He obviously already has a camera, so your preaching won't make
him buy a Sigma. Many people would like to know what a cleaning from
the factory would cost. Can anyone give an intelligent answer?

p.s. I have a D70. Nobody sells Sigma in my area and I wouldn't buy a
camera without trying it first.

This is a very tedious process and very dangerous to your camera. One
slip and you can kill the CMOS for good. Be very careful. This is
risky in all Canon DSLR sensors, but especially the mass produced 300D
which uses a more cheaply made version of the 10D CMOS which is
outsourced to sweat shops in the poorest parts of Asia for
manufacturing.

Sigma DSLRs do not have this problem because they utilise the Foveon
sensor which has built in a self-cleaning engine. I am very surprised
that Canon is still light years behind Sigma in this regard, and in
many other regards too. Switch to Sigma once you are ready to move up
to a professional system.
