Default nikon 8000 scanner - does ICE interfere with the image?

I often wondered whether there might be a penalty to pay for the luxury
of ICE in terms of image quality, eg. resolution, etc. What do the
initiated think? (In other words, is ICE a totally free lunch?... :-))

Nobody Nowhere asked:

One word of caution -- if you have very dirty
negatives with lots of hair and dust, you do not
want to put those into your scanner without
cleaning them thoroughly first. You can
put your scanner out of commission and send
it to the shop with a bit of dirt in the optics.
