General question, open to all but RichA: Were curries first designed to
mask the smell of putrid meat?

When I was in high school back in the '60s a rather strange individual
named Zahir Ahmed stayed for a short time at a neighbor's. He claimed
to be an Indian prince (turned out that he was, but also that is not
really saying much). He spoke to some classes at our school and the
teachers really ate up this exposure to 'culture.'

Well, he was also a child molester, a con man, and a professional
moocher. He was eventually deported for overstaying his visa. He tried
to run off with our neighbor's wife.

But the one thing he could do was make curry. That guy could make the
best lamb curry I ever had before or since. Granted, it is a little
like saying that Hitler liked dogs and children...
