Default Point and Shoot that uses AAs?

I'm looking for a decent, shirt-pocket sized P&S that runs on AAs. Two or
three megapixels is sufficient and the ability to do short QT videos would
be nice. I have a CoolPix 990, and it's the right size in picture quality
but it's too big to have on me all the time.

Nikon has 4 cameras that run on 2 AAs, and they get bad reviews at
Steve's. Two batteries doesn't seem to offer enough power (my 990 uses
4). Anybody know of other brands that have P&Ses that run on AAs?

(I'm in areas for a week or for two weeks where there is no electricity and
I can't recharge batteries. I can bring all the AAs I need.)

If you do not want to switch, Olympus P/S
digitals use between two or four AA's.

The Nikon S4 is a good camera, metal body and
the lens swivals like to 990. But it will
fit into a shirt pocket. Plus the controls
and software would be more comfortable
for you. Since they are set very simular
to what you have now.

Serious consider rechargeable or aa rechargeable the costs are dropping and the capacity is going up a lot every year.

Ah, crap. My apologies. I've posted this in the 35mm newsgroup instead of
rec.photo.digital. I'll transfer my query there. Sorry -- I wasn't paying
attention to where I was.

I do use rechargeables AAs ordinarily. My issue remains that I spend time
in areas where I cannot get to electricity to recharge, hence the need for
disposable batteries.

Canon Powershots should use AA batteries. Don't know if they do QT video
or what, but the A60 I have does some kind of video mode. The only
problem I had with it is it quit working when the temp got over 140 deg F.

OTOH, it's one of those Canon recalled and repaired under warranty (even
though the warranty was technically expired). Seems to be working good
as new now, and hopefully I won't have to go back where the temp is over
140.

That's OK. I would like to know of a good _film_ P&S that uses
AA's. These CR123[or whatever] things are an abomination.
TTTT, though, I will probably stick with my T4's.

AA's means big, the best P&S camera these days is the Olympus Stylus
Epic, no zoom and it takes a CR2, if it must take AA's then I cant help
you.

My Nikon F5 has a P&S mode, (program mode) and it uses AA's (8 of them), but
it won't fit in your shirt pocket, unless you are King Kong........
