Default Agfa APX 25 - others?

I have in my hands my first roll with Agfa APX 25 (I found 5 135
rolls expiring in july of 1005), developed in Rodinal 1+25, and shot
with Contax equipment and zeiss lenses.

There are no doubts it's the best film I've ever tried, skin tones
are simply wonderful, the result is totally amazing.

What else could I use to try to obtain that result?

TMX? wich developer?
Agfa Scala developed as a film?

Thanks a lot.

^^^^^^^^^
July 1005, that's pretty ancient - I did not realize photography dates
so long back ;-)))

What else could I use to try to obtain that result?

I've just read an article of a photo profi and addict, singing the
praises of Fuji Acros (ISO 100).
I can tell you later which developers he recommended.
I've also heard that Efke 25 is very good.

Regards,
Magdalena

roftl, excuse me! July of 2005!

mmhhh.. it has not the same "deep" black tones, and skin isn't so
brilliant

Not as good. It has a completely different tonal response, it has an
older look, a different contrast. I don't like it.

Regards,
Magdalena

Thank for your reply.

I forgot to say that I don't need a finegrain, low speed film for
landscapes, I need a fine grained film with an excellent skin tones
rendition, for portraits.

Thanks.

Well, I like Technical Pan in Technidol for caucasian skin tones.
But, you have to try it because it's really particular.
A second but, it is discontinued although you can still find it.

I like also Acros and TMX (both in Xtol) but you have to try them yourself, I'm not sure you'll find
a definitive answer on a newsgroup.
Film preferences are *very* personal.

I thought APX 25 was discontinued. At least where I live I can only
get APX 100. Where can I buy APX 25?

Agfa APX 25 is discontinued since 2-3 years, worldwide.
I found some rolls in a small photo equipment store.

Try ebay. At least ebay.de - it is offered there quite often
Usually from someone's freezer or fridge :-)
I have some 10 rolls and one 17 meter can, frozen ;-)

Magdalena

Strange that Agfa discontinued such a film. One should think that the
market was there. OK.....the APX 100 is also a nice film.

How about Kodak Portra BW - also discontinued in theory but still
available in some stores - or the new version of Kodak BW 400 - both
are for C-41 process, unfortunately, but the prints from Portra BW
come out very nice.

Regards
Magdalena
