Default Photographic plate question

Hi all,
I am currently attempting an experiment that involves bleaching of
negatives. I am new to this sort of process but I understand that this
is typically donde with either holographic or plates or photographic
plates with glass substrate. (I am unsure of whether bleaching can be
attempted on your regular acetate or ESTAR-backed films or not) I have
asked our local and other vendors only to learn that Kodak
discontinued these products in 2001.
Do any of you know of other vendors or perhaps a distributor with a
backlog of these plates?

Thanks a lot,
Carlos

Do you mean bleaching for redevelopment, or to reduce densities? Simple
potassium ferricyanide bleach - or a reducer mix of ferricyanide with
some ammonium thiocyanate or plain hypo - can be used on any substrate,
and glass plates are not necessary. In fact the methods for coating
glass plates make it more likely, not less, that bleaching will cause
emulsion lift.

You could try, for plates:

Thanks for the tip, David.

I meant re-halogenation bleach after development and fixing in order
to reduce densities.

I just got a recipe that involves a potassium dichromate, potassium
bromide and sulphuric acid (1ml per liter of water) for use with
Millimask plates with FL5Hd plates. I'll call astrofilms.

Thank you much.
Carlos

Sounds like a superproportional reducer. Not one I would like to make.
Also sounds a bit like the bleach from that French toning kit - Colorvir...

I normally just drink the stuff :-) Back to the Stella...

It surely is, and a fast-action one, I am having abit of trouble
trying to control the bleaching rate. I'll go for a slimmer dilution
and see what happens.

I wouldn't drink this one... not without chips, that is.
