The photo, not so much. mmm. My first thought was that the bottom one looks a bit like a briefcase - it would go well with Doug's trademark filing cabinet background shots.. Hints for professional wedding shooters: 1. The cake shot is one you have complete control over, so there are no excuses! 2. Carefully arrange and completely include (or exclude!) items that might be seen as related or decorative. Eg flowers (or scrolls in bottles) should never be cut off. 3. Give your subject room - don't let edges of the cake or its base touch or go too close to the edges. 4. Avoid odd bits of colour that might distract, eg little bits of bright blue at top right.. 5. Make sure the cake/base is either straight, or deliberately angled. It's just like a horizon - if it is a little off, it just looks odd and unprofessional. 6. Don't just shoot from wherever you happen to hold the camera - look at the cake design - would it look better from a lower or higher angle of view? In this case, I would have gone lower. |

If someone with half an interest in the photograph and not a bash up on me, passed comments I felt were valid, I'd respond in kind. Your problem is even worse than the idiot's. You don't have a clue in the first place. Not that he does either but he tries... Poor bugger. |

Nice to see you addressing the content of the email and avoiding personal attacks, as usual. It is interesting that an idiot knows more about wedding photography than you.. Are there any other wedding photog's here would like to comment on Doug's picture, versus my comments? Cheers, Doug. |
