This thread is spinning out of control into deeply OT, so I'm leaving
it. If the basic evil of k-p, real or synthetic is okay with you then
that's your problem. It will never be okay with me. I suspect that
Canadian courts would side against synth k-p, even though our courts are
leaning over backwards to protect free speech.

Alan.

Well, it isn't the k-p with me, it's the censorship based on the presumption
of guilt and the presumption that us poor, inferior, masses are too stupid
to be able to read something disgusting without rushing out to try it out,
and so we need some kind of elite, liberal, well educated (and therefore
uncorruptible?) government to, "guide" us toward reading the, "right"
stuff.........But you are right....way off topic.....Unless, of course, we
are talking about censoring photographers, which, (I think) was how this
whole thread got started.......

Yet another argument for digital photography, I guess. Or you should
develop your own film. Then again, maybe both of these would be
considered "suspicious activities" in themselves.

see the
moral majority step in and outlaw such victimless crimes.

You must be some kind of pervert, to suggest that, short of RAPE, it is

OK
for children to be exploited in this way.

Your trying to associate PARENTS with the radical far right, because we

are
opposed to anyone's children being USED just so creeps like you can get

off,
is typical of the agenda of most sexual miscreants.

Are you a member of N.A.M.B.L.A., too ("The North American Man-Boy Love
Association"), whose motto is "Sex before eight, or it's too late."

Grow up and get yourself a real woman, you sick *******.

Okay... obvious troll, however it brings up an interesting tangent.

Let's say some twisted perv, named "Jeremy" for example, goes to a public
beach and snaps a bunch of pictures of little Johnny swimming nude. Now,
let's say Jeremy then enjoys "getting off" on the pictures in the privacy

of
his own home. Where's the harm? Where's the victim? Nobody is hurt by that
action, any more than some pervert taking pictures of women at the beach

and
"getting off" on them at home.

Yet, I'd be willing to bet that 90% of people would claim Jeremy should be
jailed. Ridiculous! Go after people that do real harm. They're the ones

that
should be stopped. The State has no business being a moral guardian. Every
time they do so, they end up screwing it up.

save the $10 fine, maybe....just maybe, I'll start stuffing the meters
again, but you can bet on one thing....When I leave this world, The
state/city isn't going to owe me anything....I will have taken what's
mine
in advance......

Now THERE'S a attitude for all of us to aspire to. sigh.
There you have it, folks, the ideal example of the 'me' generation.

You bet your sweet patootie......The government is WAY too big, and WAY

too
expensive, and if you are the kind of person who just says, "Where's my

pen,
Hortence....I have to write a check to the city/state/federal

government",
without making sure that YOUR rights haven't been violated first, then

YOU
are the one who is responsible for it, and YOU will get everything YOU
deserve down the road, when they usher YOU into your private padded
cell.......On second thought, you will probably escape.....It's your
grandchildren (and mine) who will eventually pay the piper, when you are
safely tucked away in your coffin........But at least, I will have done

what
I could to slow the process down.....Tell me, Ron, have you ever found

out
just who sets the DMV rates on your vehicles every year? - Did you elect
these individuals? If not, then who did? - Or, who appointed them? - And
what guidelines did they follow when they decided that you have to pay
$xxx.yy for that Buick you drive? And have you ever gone into a DMV

office
and watched one of their employees? - What did he/she do? I'll give you

a
hint. (I have watched them) They go to a girl friends desk and talk.

Then
they telephone another girl friend, and talk. Then they go to someone

else's
desk and talk. then they go to lunch. Then they go to another phone and
phone another girl friend and talk. Then......You get the idea? - And

they
are all doing it on your money, and mine......

You MUST be in California!
Grayout Davis got you, eh?

No, but that's a good guess.....I lived and worked in California for 44
years......I started registering my vehicles up here in Oregon ($15 a year,
even for Rolls Royces) back in 1980.....Between the state income tax, the
sales taxes, and the property taxes (the DMV fees are just property taxes) I
was paying about 50% of my income to Government.....I couldn't wait to leave
California.....Then they wanted to force me to pay State income tax on my
retirement funds even though I lived out of the state.....Constitution? What
Constitution? - We don't need any stinking Constitution.....We're banditos!

Yeah, I have to empathize with you. My damn property taxes have gone up 75%
in the past 5 years. Those assholes in Austin have chosen to run off to OK
and NM to avoid voting for limiting the max increase to 5% per year because
of their selfishness that they might get their asses replaced with a new
voter map. Pieces of crap!

I've read claims of the likelyhood that 40% of kiddie-porn users
eventually 'have to have the real thing'.

Nope, it says 40% of those CHARGED also abuse children. VAST difference
there.

You are correct (literally), I was sloppy. So what? Anyone who commits
the crime has the potential to be charged with it. Likely the same
proportion for their other behaviours.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/justin/we...oct2003-26.htm

The 'virtual reality edition' of such kiddie-porn will not prevent
that. So while allowing it might respect the free speech parts of
various countries constitutions', it would remain morally
reprehensible to allow it, and likely dangerous for children, whether
the number is 40% or 4%.

Are you saying that if they couldn't get the vicarious experience they
wouldn't be likely to want the real thing? Somehow I am not as
convinced of that as You are. Seems to me that if they can't get the
experience via pictures, they will be MORE likely to go for the reality.

That might indeed be true. A form of firebreak. However, in light of
the correlation made by the police (above) it seems that it would not be
effective enough.

Tell me that is "irrelevant".

If the constitution of any country places free speech of that nature
above the well being of children, then there lies a constituion worth
spitting on.

A recent case in Canada involved a fellow (John Sharpe) who reduced
his pedophile fanatasies to 'written stories' and while found guilty
on possession of images, he was acquitted on the stories he wrote as
the had 'artistic merit'. This is the kind of horse****
interpretation courts are forced to make in the defence of free speech.

Other legitimate writers include scenes of child abuse in their
stories as part of the character and plot development. This is valid
to protect legitimate writers...but leaves wiggle room for the perverts.

I see, you are in FAVOR of thought control. If one just THINKS about
doing something wrong, slap him in prison. If you think about killing
someone, hang you high! I don't think any of use would last long in
that kind of a society.

I don't see how you equate what I wrote above as advocacy for thought
control. I do put the protection and well being of children above the
free speech of child molesters. The fellow above was not found guilty of
anything related to his writings, he was found guilty of posession of k-p.

If THOUGHT = "Run software that generates k-p for the perverted masses"
then I guess the answer is yes, ban it, make it illegal.

Well, aren't you clever! I bet you drive through EZ Tag toll booths as
well...

I don't know what, "EZ Tag toll booths are", but if they are a legitimate
way to pay for the roads, I wouldn't try to cheat them.....I only cheat the
government out of the money that they have already cheated me out of.....I
believe that everyone should pay their fair share of government expenses. If
Bill Gates doesn't get any more fire and police, and Army protection from
the government than I do, then he shouldn't have to pay any more for it than
I do......Why is it that I can kill myself with candy bars (I am a diabetic)
and not have to pay anything for it, but if you smoke cigarettes, you have
to pay $3.00 a pack for them, when any tobacco farmer will tell you that
they should only cost about 60 cents a pack, even if they have to be shipped
all the way to Mazatlan, Mexico and sold there at retail? Why do you let
your government screw other people? - Don't you ever stop to think that some
day in the future, they may get around to screwing you?

EZ Tags lanes are those you drive through and a transmiter in the car that
you prepay and it automatically deducts from your account with each pass.
For this reason, that particular lane has no crossbar and traffic flows
without much slowdown. Violators will pass through these lanes even though
they have not paid anything because they know they can. Therefore, security
cameras were set up that record the offender's tag - they photograph each
vehicle that passes through. Those that do not have an account are sent
bills and threats of legal action by the state of Texas if not corrected.
So, in response, a lot of violators started to put special covers over the
tags. These covers appear to be nothing to the eye but the recording camera
is "blinded" by the special materials used (polarizer?). So the pinheads in
the State Legislature got one thing passed before fleeing to beautiful
downtown Ardmore, OK this Spring: ANYTHING that covers ANY part of the tag
is now ILLEGAL here. Immediately millions of Texas motorists were in
violation of the law because most every dealership puts spme sort of
advertising on the tag frame.

Guess I got long winded above.

Anyway, I KNOW that I'm being screwed by SOME form of government at ANY
time.

VOTE LIBERTARIAN!

Alas, the candidates are generally pretty awful. The one from this state who
ran for president in '92 was a perfect example...

sigh

Usually, nothing.....The cop is so anxious to scribble out a ticket and

No wonder California is screwed up!

In Texas, when an officer pulls over an offender for a traffic violation

the
first thing is that he enters the tag on the computer before he gets out

of
the car. It comes back with VIN number, description of the vehicle, owner
info and any prior offenses concerning this vehicle and/or owner. Then the
officer is prepared as to how to deal with the situation before he leaves
the unit to approach the violator.

What a mess!

Well, I have to admit that it's been a long time since I was pulled over,
"live" with the wrong plates on my car. (motorcycle) Probably the computers
are more sophisticated now, and every cop has one that's kept up-to-date
daily.......At my stage of life, I never speed, so I only need the fake
plates for parking, and I can change those with quick releases instead of
screws in a few seconds.....
