A mere glance and you see that my posts are very helpful to others trying
to
maximize their photographic potential. The discord is what the
contentious
create for themselves.

You, not your respondents, create the contention, and by extension, the
resultant discord, by stubbornly refusing to acknowledge their right to hold
opinions and beliefs that differ from your own, as if they, by so believing,
are somehow flawed. You go so far as to make accusations of such flaws in
order to fuel the contention your initial posts are designed to ignite!

It's relatively advanced trolling, but trolling nonetheless. lol

Hard to know where "Rita" comes from as it's a moving target. It's
rather consistent with his behavior that he poses as a female.

He ("Rita") doesn't evoke that strong a response! The next in that
series was a chuckle, followed by a brief moment of wondering whether he
posted that entirely t.i.c., or believes it to any degree at all.

The sad part is he's quite intelligent enough to be consistently helpful
and truthful, but just ain't.

it does remind me of a former poster to the rpe35mm group who had a lot
to contribute, but who likewise could not stomach differing views and
less so, criticism.

Cheers,
Alan

Like I said, it's not my problem. I'm just pointing out indisputable
facts.
I'm sure Columbus met the same opposition when he said the world is *NOT*
flat.

No, it's called kicking the hornet's nest to get the complacent to swarm
and
think for themselves.

In the realm of CB radio this activity was known as agitation. In the realm
of Usenet it's known as trolling. I'm amazed at such a profoundly honest
admission!

You do realize that, among myriad other examples, you particularly blew your
cover by saying "my posts are very helpful to others trying to maximize
their photographic potential."

Not in the hugest leap of imagination can anyone equate the concerns of
equipment resale to "Photographic potential", which can truly be achieved
using nothing more than a disposable pocket camera.

Not that it need be said but carry on...

Hardly. Aristarchus of Samos had actually calculated the circumference of the
earth several hundred years earlier. (Given the quality of his instruments, he
did a pretty good job.) And everyone in Renaissance Europe knew about it. The
question wasn't whether you'd fall off the edge of the earth. It was how far
you'd have to travel to find anything and exactly who and what you'd find when
you got there. Chris got funding in Spain because the king of Spain, an
Atlantic country, knew that the Scandinavians, at least, had actually found
something worth looking for.

Thinking for oneself isn't a quality I'd attribute to a hornet. Most of the
hornets I've met over the years pretty much went along with the swarm.

What I seem to recall being taught was that Columbus claimed he would
find "India" by sailing west. He was so wrong he was right. I don't
believe that's the case with you. You are just wrong for the largest
number of photographers. There almost certainly are times and people
and places where the 18 month rule applies, but the benefits in most
cases (including the time needed to get familiar with a new camera
body) are too meager to be worth thinking about for most of us.
