Greetings!
Recently my wife and I have begun to take 50 -100 pictures each weekend with
our Olympus D-550. As amateurs we are trying to learn more about our camera
so that we are starting with better photos.
In the mean time we are also looking at software to manipulate the images
and improve the end result, either for onscreen enlargement and / or for
printing.
We would like to use and compare different packages.
Does anyone have suggestions on the best places to download free
photo-editing software? We have the SW that came with the camera, but it is
so basic as to not be much value, other than to enlarge and crop.
Any / all suggestions are welcome!

Try Paint Shop Pro.
http://www.jasc.com/products/paintsh...ptrialreg.asp?

I would also like to plug PaintShop Pro. It's a truly wonderful program with lots of
support. Easy to learn and can do anything that Photoshop can do at a much lower cost.
As you might guess .... I'm lovin it.

I looked at many, bought a couple, then looked at the current ACDSee.
In my opinion it is the best for general beginner to intermediate
users.
And I was also very impressed with their support.........I had a
problem on a sunday night here in NZ and was amazed to get an email
reply an hour later...goodness knows what time it was in ACDSee land!
The problem turned out to be a setting on my own pc, which they showed
me how to correct.
Don't underestimate the value of very good service,

WOW!
This group is fast!
In less than 17 hours, 13 members responded, suggesting a total of 11
products.
Thanks to all of you. I have DL and will test / compare editors in the
coming weeks.
If anyone has any more suggestions, I am glad to receive them.

Thanks again!

Try GIMP. It's free, and has most of the features provided by Photoshop CS,
which is the premier photo editing program, which is FAR from free.
