1.5 volt batteries
The instruction for the new (old) Chinon which I bought on Ebay
specifies the following for battery: 1.5V G-13 type silver oxide batteries (Eveready S-76 or equivalent) Before knowing about this and immediatly after collectiong of the camera I was in a photo shop and asked if they had batteries for the camera. The salesman put three Panasonic LR 44 batteries in the camera. Is this battery the right choice? Mojtaba |

If not then no. me |

They will work but they start to lose voltage as soon as you use the camera meter thus causing exposure error. Silver cells hold their voltage to the end then drop off.. Use the s76 or 357 cells.. No, LR44 are Alkaline which start at 1.5 but right away start to drop off, resulting in exposure error. Sliver oxide are like the (now banned) mercury batteries in that they have a flat voltage, then sharply drop off when the battery is dead. The salesman is probably only familliar with post-1980 cameras which were built with voltage regulators or zener diodes to allow for cheaper alkaline batteries. Get real S76 batteries. -- Dominic Richens | "If you're not *outraged*, you're not paying attention!" |
